United Women in Faith

United Women in Faith (UWF), formerly known as the United Methodist Women, supports programs in the United States and around the world that improves the lives of women, children, youth, and their communities.

Join us on the 3rd Sunday of the month at noon in the Parlor for food, fellowship, and informative programs. Our May program will be on prison ministry. Our future programs include Burnet Elementary School and Rev. Alicia Besser’s experience in Spain. Every woman in the church is welcome to attend.
Our Projects
UWF’s two major 2024 projects are assembling Grace Bags to feed the hungry- which is funded primarily by the Permanent Endowment Fund, and the Seaside Senior Expo- which is a free event providing health care information to seniors, family members, and caregivers from various senior resource services on Friday, September 6th.

Other community projects include help for Burnet Elementary School, and donations to the Society of St Stephens and Libbie’s Place.
International
UWF is one of the largest international women's organizations in the world. For over 150 years, we have helped women, children, and youth have a better life in 38 countries.

The international work of UWF provides scholarships for students to learn important skills needed in their countries. UWF funds the salaries of nurses and other staff as well as provides equipment and medicines for health clinics. Schools receive books and supplies. Irrigation systems and wells are installed in countries with little rain to help farmers grow sufficient food.

UWF provides clinics for women needing help with difficult pregnancies and centers for children with learning difficulties. Women are taught skills such as making handcrafted items and soap to sell to feed their families. They raise animals for food and barter purposes. UWF also works to prevent genital mutilation of girls in Africa. Our help is urgently needed.
Chrysanna Circle
Chrysanna Circle is a smaller group of UWF that gathers together on the 4th Thursday of each month in the church Parlor at 7:00 PM for friendship, fun, education, and mission projects. Fellowship activities include guest speakers, Christian movies, musical evenings, and outings to local restaurants. We also have Christmas caroling at nursing homes, and give donations to the Resource Crisis Center and the Galveston Independent School District.
Our Services

Informal Worship

sundays 8:30 am
What is informal worship

Informal Worship draws on the experience of the American church as it spread during the 1800s. Sometimes called "camp meeting" style, there is little ritual and no high church liturgy. Every Sunday at 8:30 am in the Sanctuary, we gather for worship that is natural and laid back. We lift our voices in praise as we sing the old-time favorite hymns of the church. There is a time for the congregation to select hymns during an old-fashioned hymn-sing. Holy Communion is celebrated every Sunday in an informal style. We all join hands at the end of the service as we go out to serve God and our community.

Traditional Worship

sundays 11:00 am
What is Traditional worship

Traditional Worship draws on rituals and traditions that date back to the very beginning of the Christian Church 2,000 years ago. Every Sunday at 11:00 am we gather in the Sanctuary for worship that is steeped in the liturgy and rites of the ancient church. We lift our voices in praise as we sing the traditional hymns of the church. Music is offered in a classical sacred style by the Chancel Choir, handbell groups, vocal and instrumental ensembles, and the Children's Choir and is accompanied by piano and organ. Holy Communion is celebrated on the first Sunday of each month.

The Bridge (Modern) Worship

sundays 11:00 am
What is The Bridge?

The Bridge Modern Worship gathers every Sunday morning at 11:00 am for worship. Our worship space is inside of Moody Methodist Church, in the Christian Life Center (look for the Gym). Our service is an hour long and includes a blend of modern music, a thoughtful sermon, and Holy Communion each week.

Spanish Worship

sundays 11:00 am
What is Spanish worship

The Hispanic Ministry of Moody Methodist Church, with the purpose to proclaim the God of our life for the Hispanic community of Galveston, meets every Sunday at 11:00 am to share the Word of God in Spanish with celebration of the sacraments, biblical readings, songs of praise, intercessory prayer, and thanksgiving.
