Asbury — Room R421

A class not limited by any age. The most important elements are fellowship and Christian friendship. The lesson format explores available literature and video material as a springboard to discussion of religious, moral, and ethical issues. The video format allows the class exposure to some of the greatest theologians of our time and extraordinary historical perspectives on religious history.

The Good News Class — Room G332

A class of active members that gather together for fellowship, support, prayer and Bible study. The class studies the Bible to refresh their faith in God and to create a deeper understanding of how to serve God in today's fast-paced world. For adults age 25 to 45.

Hispanic Adults — Room R427

The Adult Spanish Language Sunday School Class is held at 10:00 a.m. and is followed by an 11:00 a.m. worship service in the Fellowship Hall. This class uses the quarterly, Lecciones Christianas as the basis for study.

Methodism 101 — Room B211

Open Door — Room B203

This is a large class that welcomes visitors and new members. We take in-depth looks at various Bible scriptures, related issues and topics. We rely on insights and opinions from all members and most of our learning comes from their input. We encourage sharing and want to create an environment of friendship and support. Bill Glenn is currently teaching this group discussion class. An important focus for this group is to be active in outreach mission work. Open to all ages.

Serendipity — Room R435

This adult singles class studies life's lessons, using Biblical and spiritual guideposts through fellowship and discussion with an occasional guest speaker. Emphasis is on strengthening the spiritual lives of single adults, building faith and sharing fellowship. They also sponsor a non-denominational singles group, Soltero, that gathers for social activities.

Wesley — Room B209

The class focuses on topical Bible study with an emphasis on group discussion and participation. Topics vary as class interest varies. The members of this class are very active in our church fellowship and outreach. Current leader for the class is Jeff Rabek. This class welcomes adults of any age or marital status.

Youth Sunday School

The Youth of Moody Church (grades 6-12) meet in The Lighthouse Youth Center each Sunday morning for a gathering time of celebration. Senior High youth remain in the Lighthouse for Sunday School and Junior High students meet upstairs in B204.

Our youth Bible studies are relational in nature and use Bible-based curriculum to help teenagers form strong relationships with Jesus Christ. We help make Christianity make sense.

United Methodist Youth Fellowship

The youth gather on Sunday evenings at 5:30 p.m. in the Lighthouse Youth Center for a snack supper, fellowship, and program. Our youth are active in community outreach and international missions, and sponsor the Pumpkin Patch Evangelism on the lawn each October. Youth participate in worship by leading the SONrise Easter service on the beach, hosting the Seder meal during Lent, and at other points throughout the year. We take time for fun each March as we head to Colorado for our annual ski trip, travel to Lakeview for Houston East District Summer Camp, and participate in numerous local activities. Additionally we are very active in UMARMY, a week long mission and growth opportunity during the summer.

Childrens Christian Education Classes

We welcome your children to the Sunday School of Moody Memorial First United Methodist Church and we welcome you as partners in our ministry with children. We take seriously the task of making Christ and the Christian story known to children in a manner that nurtures them in their lifelong growth in faith. It is our belief that home and church must become partners in nurturing children in their Christian growth.

Children’s Curriculum

The children’s Sunday School classes use the Exploring Faith literature, a very interactive curriculum of games, stories, art and drama. This resource provides a quarterly cycle of age-appropriate Bible stories from the Old and New Testaments. These stories, paired with learning activities, encourage children to apply the Bible message to their daily lives.

Anchor Time

This special assembly time for all school-age children meets in the Multi-Ministry Room from 9:30 am - 9:45 am. Achor Time is followed by a rotation model of Sunday School with stories, art and games.
