Chrysanna Circle
The Chrysanna Ladies group (circle) of Moody Methodist Church has been together since the mid-1970’s. Formerly known as the Chrysalis Circle, the group merged with two other groups that had lost some memberships, about ten years ago.
All women of the church and their friends are welcome at any of our monthly meetings. The fourth Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. is our regular meeting time. Meetings are held at the church, unless otherwise notified. Check out our meeting schedule for this year.
We have a variety of activities at our meetings. Ranging from book reviews, mission trip experiences shared, to just plain having fun, and fellowship. A sisterhood that is needed today among women of all ages and life experiences.
We also have several meetings that involve community service projects. Collecting school supplies for needy children of our community for one. We also pack packages for third world country personnel of the ships that come into our Port of Galveston. The Port Chaplain delivers them for us.
Another Christmas time project is when the group and their spouses go caroling at the Gulf Health Care Center at the end of the Seawall. We sing and present a candy cane to the residents there…just trying to spread a little holiday cheer for those who are alone and elderly.

United Methodist Women (UMW)
UMW is a global organization helping women worldwide through mission outreach as well as emphasizing Spiritual Growth; Mission Education and Interpretation; Social Action; and Membership Nurture and Outreach.
We are but an arm of a global organization, numbering 800,000 women in the United States alone! Like the United Methodist Church the organization of United Methodist Women has district, conference, and jurisdiction organizations. These organized bodies are determined by geography. We are in the South District. Our congregational group is referred to as a UNIT and can be sub-grouped into CIRCLES.
We will have a monthly meeting on the first Sunday of every month, in the Parlor, at 12:15pm. It will be a great time for fellowship. A light lunch and refreshments will always be served. For more information, contact Leanne Green, lgreen@moody.org.
The Moody Methodist Church Cookbook
Gracious Goodness!, a church-wide cookbook compiled by the United Methodist Women, consists of over 400 recipes from church members and their families and friends. The cost of the cookbook is $15. Checks can be made payable to Moody Methodist UMW. It makes a great gift for Christmas, birthdays, wedding present or for any occasion.
The proceeds from the cookbook will be used for United Methodist Women mission projects. You may get your copy of the cookbook by stopping by the church office, or call 409-744-4526.
