Youth Basketball League

2011/2012 League Registration Information:

Moody’s Basketball League is open to children between the ages of 5-14. The league runs November 28, 2011 through March 6, 2012. Your child will practice one hour, one day a week. The league games are held on Saturdays in January and February. (Exceptions will be made during the Mardi Gras weekends.) A $75 fee covers participation in the league, game day jersey, drawstring bag, and a water bottle. Registration ends October 28, 2011. League scholarships are available to those who meet certain criteria.  Scholarships are limited and awarded on a first-come-first-serve basis. To inquire about the scholarship process, please contact the CLC Director.

Team Try-Outs:

In November, every participant must come to their designated 30 minute try-out in order to be drafted onto a team.  Here, participants will run a few drills with the coaches to show off their ball handling skills. Only coaches will remain for the drafting process immediately following the designated try-out times.  If you are not present for try-outs you will be randomly placed onto a team. 

Mandatory Parent’s Meeting:

All parents must attend one of the following meetings from 6-7pm.
Tuesday, Nov. 15                   Thursday, Nov.17

Calling All Coaches:

Our league would not be possible without the help from our parent volunteers.  If you have a love for basketball, coaching youth, and inspiring the game of basketball into youth, then this is just the place for you! Coaching one of our teams is a rewarding experience to you and the children on the team.  If you are interested in becoming a Head or Assistant Coach for one of our teams, please contact the CLC Director.

Responsibilities include:
Filling out Background Check
Attending our 1-hour course for Safe Sanctuary
Participating in the team try-outs/draft
Coaching your team’s practice for 1 hour, 1 night per week during the season
Coaching your team’s game on Saturdays during the season
Attending the end of season banquet

October Skills Clinics, cost: $5

In October, we offer a clinic in Basketball 101 for participants to refresh their knowledge before drafts in November.  Each clinic will be run by Coach Larry Hilton.

Summer Camp

Lace up your high-tops and get ready to shoot some hoops. If your son or daughter loves basketball, then they will love our camp in July! Boys and girls ages 5-14 are welcome to participate in a four-day camp each week in July with Coach Larry Hilton. The camp fee of $25 includes your child's participation and a t-shirt. Look for more information during May and June 2011.

Ages 5/6:  June 25-28, 6-7pm

Ages 7/8:  July 9-12, 6-7pm

Ages 9/10:  July 23-26, 6-7:30pm

Ages 11-14:  July 30-August 2, 6-7:30pm
